Open Hyperdocument System Goes Mobile
نویسندگان
چکیده
An Open Hyperdocument System (OHS) is a standard-based, open source framework for the creation and maintenance of Dynamic Knowledge Repositories (DKR). The HyperScope is a first stage OHS that can be used to browse and comment OHS files. This paper takes a look at how well OHS and HyperScope could be utilized through mobile devices. This is done by comparing the essential elements of OHS and the functional capabilities of HyperScope with the basic capabilities of mobile devices, with emphasis on mobile phones. The paper will show that the biggest problem with mobile devices is the size of the display, but they could still be used to browse OHS files. The HyperScope should be implemented as a mobile-aware server-side application so that clients could be used to connect to it. The HyperScope Server should also transform the data into a presentable format for the client.

Interoperability Between Collaborative Knowledge Applications
The purpose of Doug Engelbart's Open Hyperdocument System (OHS) is to enable applications to implement sophisticated hyperlinking functionality in an interoperable manner. In order to achieve this, there must be a standard architecture for representing hyperdocuments. Experience suggests that such an architecture be based on a graph-based data model, consisting of nodes with properties and type...
متن کاملA Transfer Protocol for an Open Hyperdocument Model Server
The http protocol is a fundamental component of the current design of WWW. It provides a bulk transfer mode of operation, suitable for today’s networks of limited bandwidth. The protocol for Hyper-G is similar, with important extensions for Hyper-G concepts of links, anchors, search and collections. We discuss a bulk transfer hyperdocument protocol for a distributed hypermedia system which perm...
متن کاملMobile objects and the hyoctane distributed hyperdocument server
Mobile objects are programs passed between distributed information servers for execution on remote sites within a limited environment. We describe the MHEG virtual machine speciication which supports mobile code in a heterogeneous environment. MHEG VM is suitable for integration in many diierent distributed information systems, including the WWW. We brieey describe the possible integration of t...
متن کاملCsiro Hypertext Research Project
This paper described the archtecture of a hyperdocument system intended to provide access to a coherent body of knowledge, consisting of structured knowledge, text, graphics, data and executable models. The main focus of the research is in intermediate structure added to the documents to support the links between the structured knowledge and the textual knowledge. The system is implemented in a...
متن کاملExtreme Markup Languages 2002 Montréal , Québec August 6 - 9 , 2002
Hyperdocuments present special requirements for integration with lifecycle and versioning systems. These requirements can best be summarized as "versioned linking", something not addressed by merely versioning the storage objects involved. The overriding challenge in versioned linking is resolving the correct version at the end of a link -where "correct" is defined by arbitrary business policy....
